In the summer of 1990, a group of fifty people responded to an invitation to form the core group of a new congregation. They held their first public worship service at Lincoln Elementary School on Palm Sunday, March 23, 1991.
On Sunday, June 8, 1997, the Trinity congregation extended a call to Pastor Chuck Shillito to become its new pastor. Along with his wife, Cathy, and their five children, Chuck began his ministry with us on September 1, 1997.
In 1999 our Long Range Planning Team completed a comprehensive site plan which received unanimous approval from the County Planning Commission. In April 2000 God gave us our "Building for New Life" miracle, with $1.5 million committed and given by the congregation over the ensuing three years.
Under the prayerful direction of our Building Committee, the former sanctuary (now called "The Upper Room") was expanded to accommodate our growing worship attendance, new parking spaces and office space were added, and construction on our new 16,000 square foot Worship & Children's Ministry Center was completed for move-in on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2003. "And the people of God celebrated the dedication of the house of God with great joy!" (Ezra 6:16) Pay-off of the $850,000 debt on our 22-acre property soon followed.
"Look how far God has brought us! Look what He has done!" Those were the emotion-filled words of one of the founding members of Trinity as she walked up the hill to the church office from the new Worship & Children's Ministry Center. She had just walked through the beautiful building where we gather together as a church family to worship our Lord Jesus Christ and see Him touch and change lives for His glory! Buildings don't change lives, but what goes on inside does!
Our church is currently in transition from the Presbyterian Church, USA, to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. More information will be provided by the end of October, 2009.
God continues to be faithful! According to His promise, Jesus is building His church here on the hill. "Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May He be given glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21, NLT)
Our purpose is to...
The leadership of this church continues to be committed to building on the foundation and formula that the believers of the first-century church followed: "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers … And the Lord was adding to their number daily those who were being saved." (Acts 2:42, 47)
There, in that simple formula, we see four important principles that guided the early church: they were a worshipping church, an evangelizing church, a learning church, and a loving church. Those four priorities — worshipping, evangelizing, learning, loving — made them a healthy, strong, and growing church.
We have never sought to be a big church. But we are committed to being a strong church. We believe that if we focus on the quality, that is, building a strong church, then God will take care of the quantity. If God's people are taught, challenged and equipped properly, then they will want to reach others as well. Well-fed sheep will reproduce themselves. That is exactly what happened in the early church.
We have learned over the years that people will develop an appetite for what you feed them. If you build a church on programs, people will have a hunger for programs. If you build it on entertainment, people will have an appetite for entertainment. But if you build a church on the teaching of God's Word, then people will have an appetite for God's Word. For that reason, the Bible will always be the foundation and centerpiece of all we say and do at Trinity.
We are standing at the threshold of incredible opportunities to share Jesus' life and love with people — children, youth, adults, whole families — people whom God loves and for whom Jesus gave His life on the cross. What a calling and purpose our Savior has given us! What a joy to know that together we can make a difference for eternity!
We invite you to join us in the exciting adventure of making Trinity's promising future and vision a reality - seeing people come to know Jesus Christ and having their lives changed and filled with His joy - to the praise and glory of God!
